rotted

you say it

as if we’re talking about

someone else

but i know

it is me

and you know it too

*

i know you sense the staleness

and i know you smell the stench

the mustiness

that invades your senses

has long been settled

and is very far from being new

*

how much longer

can u or i hold on

when what i have become

has rotted through?
