Society says I only have so much time
Biology sagely agrees
But Life
And Will
And Experience
They keep asking me to wait
For better.
And I?
I seesaw between hope and despair
I venture and retreat
I try and falter
And still try
I will do what i can
Until i can’t no more.
a realization
leisurely gnaws away at me
my heart sinks lower
shrinking from being devoured
my mind
wonders resolutely away
from the hurt
that stings too raw
my soul
cowers
waiting in vain
for the Lighted hour
looking towards the Future
only takes you so far
when you are waiting
for the Now to appear.
and though all that is optimistic
claims to follow Yet
and all that has gone
has been washed over with
Yesterday’s rosy brush
the Truth is:
Now with its
imperfections
and awkwardness
is what i impatiently
crave.
